500km in 30 stages in the South West of Sardinia along the ancient mining paths of the Sulcis Iglesiente Guspinese. Going through the Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara (Mining Way) you walk on the most ancient rocks in Italy where the first forms of life of our planet have found hospitality and, together with the great heritage of industrial mining archeology, it is possible to observe the traces of eight thousand years of history that testify the presence of man in the territory since the ancient Neolithic.

This extraordinary geological heritage and of classical and industrial archeology, inserted, from the mountains to the sea, in an environmental and landscape context of particular variety, suggestiveness and beauty, finds a unitary synthesis in the red thread that unites the churches and the streets of the ancient dedicated processions to the cult of Santa Barbara, the international patroness of miners who has represented in past centuries and still today the symbol of cohesion and identity of the people of the mine.

Almost 75% of the route is walked on footpaths, mule tracks, cart tracks and dirt driveways, while the remaining 25% is made up of paved roads in urban centers and short extra-urban stretches with asphalt surfaces.

The altitude ranges from sea level to an altitude of 900 m in the Marganai mountain system: it is necessary to take into account the continuous presence of differences in height, which however are only in a few cases challenging.

The itinerary is marked with yellow arrows and blue aluminum cards where the directional arrows and the tower representing the logo of the Way are indicated in yellow.
