Description
Antas is the Temple of the Sardus Pater Babai, warrior and wise progenitor of the Sardinian lineage who united people and peoples of all times in this mystical place. The Valle di Antas is set in the center of a beautiful natural amphitheater where the unique Roman Temple in Sardinia stands. The importance of the archaeological site is undoubtedly given by the vestiges of the Roman place of worship, but retracing its history we find the testimonies of a nuragic village which certifies the presence of this extraordinary civilization since the Bronze Age. Below the steps leading to the Temple are the remains of the Carthaginian place of worship (500 BC), built in honor of the Punic divinity Sid Addir Babay who personified the indigenous god venerated in the nearby nuragic sanctuary.
The site is open all year round and it is also possible to stop to taste aperitifs and platters with typical products.
The cooperative that currently manages the archaeological site is Start Uno Soc. Coop.
